June 26 - July 2, 2017

Join other crafters for a Fijian cultural immersion to discover the traditional art of mat and basket weaving. This is not your usual sandy island Fijian escape, but a deep dive into a culture that seems to have stood still in time.

Visit a local village and spend time with the ladies learning the ancient art of pandanus weaving. Try your hand at basket weaving and learn the multiple uses of the coconut tree. Use your time to skill-share your handicrafts with the village ladies to create wares for our very own handicrafts display. Discover ancient medicinal remedies of the rainforest.

Explore beyond the boundaries of the resort, into the depths of a culture that lives and flourishes off the land and sea. We will visit the local school for a soul quenching interaction with the local children, where we share stories and observe their learnings. We will take a trip to the local market and town to observe daily life and to scour the stalls for hidden treasures to take home. And we will part-take in a traditional ceremony before entering sacred lands.

All of this, with like-minded crafters, to a place bursting with smiles. Seven days of rich discoveries, unique experiences and a life time of happy memories to bring home. This is a unique cultural enrichment retreat to the Northern mainland island of Fiji, known as the “Hidden Paradise”.
